🦎 the Abrolhos Dwarf Bearded Dragon – a lizard that’s completely unique to the islands.
Coral Reefs, Snorkelling & Glass Bottom Boats
The Abrolhos is one of the southernmost true coral reefs in the Indian Ocean.
Snorkel through vibrant coral gardens. Spot Western Rock Lobsters, temperate & tropical reef fish.
Protected National Park
The Abrolhos Islands became a WA National Park in 2019, helping protect their rare wildlife, coral reefs, and historical sites.
Tourism infrastructure on the islands is extremely limited – no hotels, resorts, or ferries.
Eco Abrolhos 5 Day Cruises offers one of the only ways to explore all three island groups in comfort, with onboard accommodation, guided tours, and sustainable access to otherwise hard-to-reach locations.
Batavia (1629) Shipwreck & History
In 1629, the Dutch ship Batavia wrecked on the reefs of Beacon Island. What followed was one of Australia’s most dramatic tales of shipwreck, mutiny, and survival — a story still tied to the islands today, with archaeological remains and interpretive sites to explore.
But the Abrolhos story doesn’t end there. For more than a century, the islands have also supported seasonal fishing camps, especially for Western Rock Lobster, one of WA’s most valuable seafood exports. These camps — painted in bright colours and perched just above the waterline — are a unique part of the islands’ identity and still used by fishing families today.
Sustainable Ocean-to-Plate Dining
A highlight of every Eco Abrolhos cruise is the opportunity to enjoy fresh Abrolhos seafood — often caught right from the boat. From Western Rock Lobster to Dhufish and Baldchin Groper, your meals reflect the pristine waters you’re cruising through.
But it’s more than just flavour — it’s about sustainability. Our crew follows strict regulations within the Fish Habitat Protection Zone, preparing what is caught to be enjoyed onboard only. Guests can even learn how to clean and prepare their own catch at our custom-designed, environmentally friendly fish cleaning station.
It’s WA’s seafood at its freshest — with a minimal footprint and maximum taste.
5-Star Guest Reviews & Award-Winning Experience

Can’t beat the service. And opportunities provided by this small family business. Our recent cruise with the Eco Abrolhos crew gave us the opportunity to venture into a remote area that we couldn’t have done alone. Owner operators have set up an incredible infrastructure to ensure comfort and safety. There’s an impressive variety of vessels to cater for all needs from glass bottom boats, fishing boat (plenty of fish caught to keep the fishers and diners happy), and small transfer ‘barges’ for island visits and snorkelling. The weather and sea conditions weren’t perfect but Jay and the crew made every effort to ensure we experienced everything possible. Would love revisit all the snorkel sites in better days though we were treated with a rare snorkel on the wreck of the Batavia. So much history in the area! The meals aboard were and 11 out of 10. How many ways can you prepare a cray? Truly magnificent! The crew worked tirelessly throughout the day and night to offer variety in our days aboard; comfortable cabins, dining and lounge areas plus spacious top deck area for afternoon drinks and sunsets. Communications and customer service were all outstanding before and after the trip. The Eco Abrolhos has everything you need with the added bonus of being with the locals who have lived and worked the area for a lifetime

A unique experience and adventure - a once in a lifetime opportunity. Recommended without hesitation. This was an amazing experience with Eco Abrolhos everything was perfect the activities snorkeling, fishing, the history, walking on the islands and everything managed by an exceptional crew. The food at every meal was fantastic with so much freshly caught and prepared crayfish and fish. We would recommend this cruise to those who like small group adventures and engaging with nature. It is a cruise without all the formalities of some cruises and is very personal and so much fun.

Abrolhos Island cruise It was a wonderfully trip, from the crayfish pizza on the evening we met at the boat, to the end of our voyage.
The Abrolhos Islands were unlike any we had ever seen before and the backdrop to a tale of betrayal and mass murder!
The range of activities was great, including fishing, snorkelling, walking, pot pulling (of craypots), swimming, viewing on their glass bottom boat
and relaxing. My wife caught her first fish ever and was greatly excited.
The crew were terrific and very friendly as were our fellow guests .The meals were amazing, with crayfish on the menu almost every lunch and dinner!
I recommend this trip to everyone.

Beautiful Islands, amazing realise, wonderful company. Coral Islands like no other. Each day on this small boat cruise, we had a choice of Cray potting, fishing, snoreling, or strolling along the coral beaches. The cruise was very relaxed, historically informative and has awesome sunsets. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The chef prepared a smorgasbord of delicious dishes each meal. The Abrolhos Islands are a rare gem unspoilt visitors.

The terrific Eco Abrolhos team gave us an active, adventurous and very rewarding holiday.
They shared Abrolhos history and environmental information to make every stop in the huge spread (over 122 islands), a special event.
We could not have seen the Abrolhos Islands in such depth without their guidance through the coral reefs.
There was something happening all the time, without being overwhelming. You choose your activity and the team takes care of you. The food, fishing and new friendships were fabulous.
This is absolutely the best kind of holiday for us.

This is no ordinary coral islands experience. Extraordinary fishing, crayfishing, snorkelling in total comfort The terrific Eco Abrolhos Cruises team gave us an active, adventurous and very rewarding holiday.
They shared Abrolhos history and environmental information to make every stop in the huge spread (over 122 islands), a special event.
The skipper navigated the Abrolhos Islands coral reefs with expertise and located the best fishing and snorkelling spots from his vast knowledge as a previous rock lobster fisherman.

The food, fishing and new friendships were fabulous.
This is absolutely the best kind of holiday suitable for active people of all ages.

Abrolhos Islands are an undiscovered wonderland for both young and old who enjoy boats, snorkeling, fishing, history of the Batavia and fun activities. The Cox family (and their boat the Eco Abrolhos) made our six night stay a time to remember. Even with some strong winds on the first couple of days, there are plenty of spots to shelter and activities to do. The staff onboard the boat are highly attentive and helpful. Having an 18m tender boat along side the big Eco Abrolhos allows the exploring of the islands to be done safely and in comfort. March/April would be ideal timing.

It was a fantastic trip, everything was planned and executed to perfection! The staff was very friendly and helpful all the time. Food was excellent and plentiful. A must do experience, should be on everyone's bucket list It's rare to find experiences that completely exceed your expectations, but this did it in spades for me. A fabulous mix of activities for the adventurous, plus history of the region from someone who knows and has lived it. The story of the Batavia came to life as we stood on the places it happened, surrounded by wild bird life.
Sensational food with guest caught fresh fish and crays, there is a great bar all from the comfort and safety of very well-appointed boat. There is a support cray boat as well as 4 further smaller boats to get to the islands, two with glass bottoms and front loading to make it easy to get on off.
There is something for everyone here, and this is a world class trip. My advice is to go whilst you still can.

Abrohlos!! A thoroughly enjoyable experience on a very comfortable boat with an outstanding crew. To top everything off, the food prepared by Emily was superb!

An absolutely fantastic experience. Jay and his crew catered for all our needs and always with a smile.
The cabins were comfortable and well appointed.
You cannot take alcohol aboard. Their prices were very reasonable I thought.
The fishing and snorkelling were both first class. Liam, skipper of the ex cray boat, Dhu Force, will put you onto the fish. You can also participate in the pot pull in the mornings, crayfish being a big part of the diet aboard.
Lastly for history buffs there is the 'Batavia' story. I recommend reading about this shipwreck and others that occurred on the WA coast. Visit both the Shipwreck Museum in Fremantle and the very good museum in Geraldton prior to going to the Abrolhos Islands to get an appreciation of this history if not already familiar with it.
I have spent years at sea in some of the world's best locations. This is the equal of any of those.

Treat yourself to the Abrolhos Island Cruise A once in a lifetime trip I have done twice now! I first met Jay and Eco Abrolhos Cruises while working in Geraldton- I loved the trip back then (about 8 years ago!) and I loved it this time. Jay lives and breathes the Abrolhos Is- his love of it is infectious and he has a lifetime of wild, crazy stories about it. What's not to love? Blue skies, perfect mid to late 20s temperature every day, calm waters (once you are puttering around the Islands) fresh crays and just caught fish- cooked to perfection. Then you have the snorkeling- wow- so many fish and coral. I did the star gazing cruise this time- and that was extra special - with the opportunity to see the night sky free from light pollution and the milky way- was amazing.

Staying on the Eco Abrolhos was fantastic. The trip had every richness from the ocean - blue skies, crystal clear water, fishing, snorkelling, history, crayfish, pearls, coral beaches, and wildlife. Jay and his staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. With good humour, they accommodate guests' needs and fitness levels. Emily, the on-board chef, provided delicious healthy food, including the fish and crays caught the previous day. Each day, we could choose to fish, walk, snorkel or simply hang out on the boat's deck. Stargazing with Donna was fun and informative. I recommend Eco Abrolhos to anyone looking for a small group tour, adventure and history in a stunningly beautiful location.

Amazing adventure, run by a highly knowledgeable & experienced team who always had smiles on their faces. The food the chef & team produced was as good as any 5-star restaurant. I didn't know how many different ways you could eat FRESH crayfish every day!! It's not the 'sip cocktails on the sun-deck all day' type of cruise, although you can do that if you want but it would be a waste! You'd miss out on the culture, history, sea-life, bird-life, sea lions, snorkelling, fishing, trekking the islands, swimming in turquoise waters, learning about the cray fishing life-style etc. Needless to say, it's definitely a bucket list item to tick off.

“Keep your eyes open!” Everyday was a new and exciting adventure during our 5 day cruise on the Eco Abrolhos. All daily activities and tours were optional and we took advantage of the opportunities offered to experience as much as possible of the beautiful Abrolhos Islands; including shipwrecks, snorkelling , glass bottom boat, island walks, fishing, cray pot pulling, wildlife spotting. The Captain and crew are a tight knit hard working team who obviously enjoy their roles and freely share stories and expert knowledge, always with patience and time for any questions we had. Our safety and our enjoyment of the cruise were always their first priority The boat is very comfortable and the perfect size for a small group tour, but large enough to find a quiet spot if needed. We enjoyed meeting all our fellow guests and getting to know them socially. The chef made delicious meals and there was always plenty for everyone. We are very happy we took the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Abrolhos Islands with Eco Abrolhos Cruises.

Memorable, unique, authentic, epicurean delight. I booked a solo cabin on the Wine Tasting/Gourmet Seafood cruise.
I am a widow and I only mention this because:
I had fun.
I had social interaction with a very inclusive group of fellow cruisers.
I had my personal comfort zone challenged with the offered snorkelling/fishing activities.
I encountered a natural environment of such beauty that I was reminded that there is beauty in my world.
I had the most superb food!! Jay could trade in the cruising for his cuisine expertise. Crays, fish, salads never tasted so good.
I witnessed a crew and "a boss", Jay, put the concept of teamwork into action.
I had solitude if I wanted it.

Eco Abrolhos trip - Great Great Abrolhos trip. Just the right amount of activity and relax time with everything catered for. Food was great with no limit on the amount of lobster and fish, which you can catch yourself (fishing was awesome) and watch them set and pick-up the lobster pots. But if you are not into fishing, they did Island walks and snorkeling at the same time. Did I say the food was great, ., chef was amazing with plenty of other options if you got sick of lobster and fish. Liam and Scotty on the fishing tender were outstanding, did everything for you (if you wanted), all staff were working hard to do everything for you, but relaxed and very friendly. This is not a luxury cruise, its a well coordinated activity boat, but, if you want to stay on the boat and chill, you can. Boat was very comfortable and small enough to get close to everything (unlike other boats) so views were better in the evenings and closer to Island walks, snorkeling etc. Really like their Eco approach, catch only what you will eat. Highly recommended. Mark

The word ‘Amazing’ doesn’t do the 5 day experience justice. We were so well looked after from every member of their Team - from the start to the very end. Every member of the team were friendly, respectful, polite, courteous, helpful, genuine, competent in their roles and tasks, and they made every effort to make every person feel safe, cared for, and their needs met. There were activities to suit everyone. From crayfish pot-pulling, deep sea fishing, walking, snorkelling, to just relaxing and reading a book on the lounge or deck. Jay ran a really tight ship and everything was well oiled, shipshape and ran smoothly. I loved his tales and stories from his first hand experience of the area, and Howard’s passion and knowledge of the Abrohlos, its wildlife, and the Shipwreck stories captivated me and gave me a great insight into this magical part of the world. It is no surprise that this area is dubbed the Galapagos of the Indian Ocean. Emily the master chef on board the vessel is responsible for the extra kilos we are now all carrying, delighting us with all the different ways you can prepare the lobster and the fish was cooked to perfection every time.

Trip of a lifetime! The wonderful Houtman Abrolhos Islands. An amazing 5 day trip with Eco Abrolhos Cruises and their delightful crew. This has been a place I have always been fascinated with and I am so lucky that I have had the opportunity to visit the islands with such knowledgeable hosts!
We were on the Eco and Shipwreck tour with guest speaker Dr Howard Gray Abrolhogist! Howard is an expert in the islands and has written a number of fantastic books about the history, archaeology and ecology of the group. We were also fortunate enough to have Graeme Henderson AM aboard as a guest who discovered the wreck of the Vergulde Draeck (1656) at the age of 16 which led to his career in Marine Archaeology.
We started at the southern end of the group Pelsaert Group, then visited the Easter Group before spending the last couple of days around the Wallabi Group - where the wreck of the Batavia occurred in 1629.
I cannot stop raving about our trip! Jay and his very capable crew were so helpful and fun and they made the trip unforgettable. A big thank you also to Chef Emily who presented a fantastic variety of dishes for every meal and went out of her way to accommodate my request for Gluten Free meals.
If you’re lucky enough to get a berth on an Eco Abrolhos tour then you’re in for a treat!

I have limited mobility but other than the island walks was able to do most things. One of the best trips Ive been on in years! The purpose of the trip for me, was to learn more about the Batavia shipwreck and explore the Islands that make up the Abrolhos. Howard Grey, the local historian who has a deep knowledge of the Batavia history plus the Islands showed us around explaining the history but also the many birds and other wildlife on the Islands. The boat was super comfortable, awesome meals and knowledgeable and helpful crew who were "in the background" but at the same time shaped the trip. Well worth going on. Loved it.

The fishing was fantastic and the subsequent meals that were created from our catch were to die for. Amazing snorkelling and tours of the various islands offered insights into lessor known parts of Australian history. Did we love it? You bet we did. Will we go back? Absolutely.

Highly recommend this family run adventure tour of the Abrolhos Islands. The boat is a great size, accommodating 30 guests with comfort. If you want to see the Abrolhos, eat amazing food, enjoy nature, fishing and the history of the area. From the booking of this trip right through to being dropped off at my accommodation at the end, the staff were helpful and genuinely friendly. Now I’m thinking about booking the Kimberly trip.

Amazing , brilliant in always trip !!! I recently had the most AMAZING experience aboard the Eco Abroholis on a 5 day 4 night adventure cruise of a lifetime !!

Great Experience for Family with Teenagers Great experience at the Abrolhos with Eco Abrolhos with two 16 year old boys. Activities organised from 8 am to 7 pm, we tried the fishing, pot pulls for crayfish and the different island walking tours, glass bottom boat and snorkelling experiences every day. Wildlife seen included sea lions, many sea birds, dolphins, humpback whales and a huge variety of fish and colourful corals. Food was great too and crew and fellow passengers were very friendly making for a very memorable trip. September was chilly in the water so reasonably thick wetsuits were definitely required to stay toasty so best to bring your own as the cruise wetsuits were fairly thin. Nevertheless the snorkel time was 30 mins to 45 mins so it was doable in the thinner wetsuits. Thanks to Captain Bronson, Jay and crew for their great service. Flights to and from the islands were great too as we avoided sea sickness and saw the islands from the air.

The Abrolhos were a great group of islands to visit. Eco Abrolhos were a great company to go with conditions on board but the highlight was the staff and the activities you had to choose from. Everyday there were multiple options including fishing, snorkeling, walks with history, nature walks or just chill. The good thing was there was no competition to do anything, they always catered for everybody. All to easy. I would have no hesitation suggesting EcoAbrolhos for a trip to the islands.

We have just returned from a 5 day eco Abrolhos Abrolhos trip. A fantastic experience, great staff and crew. Visited the 3 island groups, island walks, fishing and craypot pulling, snorkelling and glass bottom boat trips all available every day. Lots of history of the Batavia shipwreck and other shipwrecks. The first hand knowledge of owner Jay and his son Bronson made the experience very special. The food was superb and the chef excellent. Highly recommend.

An amazing experience!! This was a most amazing experience. The crew was fantastic. Jay the skipper had so much knowledge and stories about the Abrolhos. We didn't realise how big the Abrolhos Islands were. The snorkeling spots were great. Food was delicious with plenty of choice. Even Easter Bunny came for a visit. We now have friends interested in going. Highly recommend doing this.

Beautiful exploration on a live aboard Everything was taken care of barely time to have lunch amongst the many experiences. We love snorkeling and we’re privileged to snorkel on the wreck of the Batavia, seeing canons and anchors from the ship beautifully grown over with red and yellow coral and alive with crayfish and reef fish. The Shore Leave long lunch was a bonus and we ate so much crayfish! We jumped in the water and had a lovely swim. Captain Jay Cox was very helpful and had a great wit as well as a confident manner.
I would love to do it again!

A complete Battavia experience! Thanks Jay and your great crew.
Had a lovely time with family and relatives from overseas.
Long lunch @ Turtle Bay was a highlight, and we all enjoyed learning about the gruesome story of the Batavia shipwreck from Howard Grey. Some great snorkels, including a dive on the wreck site, and to top it off a couple of hours of fun and chaos at the Two Up out at West Wallaby island on Anzac day. Great trip.

Incredible 6 day Abrohlos Island cruise experience We have just returned from an amazing 6 day Eco Abrohlos cruise that exceeded all our expectations. It was our first time to the islands and to be shown around by Jay and all the friendly and knowledgeable crew was very enjoyable. So much to see and do and the cruise offered all options such as fishing, snorkeling, pulling cray fish pots, and tours and insight into the local environment, capped off by a bonus long table lunch at Turtle Bay.
We had the option to do exciting activities every day or just relax on the boat if we chose to. The food was incredible with fresh seafood and other selections at every meal.
Historian and local expert Dr Howard Gray was on hand to offer walking and other tours every day, including incredible insights to the islands and the history of the Batavia shipwreck dating back to the 1600's.
A must do cruise when in WA!

Eco Abrolhos 6 Day Adventure - First Class! What a fantastic holiday experience! Skipper Jay and the magnificent crew both collectively and individually ensured a first-class holiday experience. Fishing, craypot pulling, snorkeling, glass bottom boats, island walks and history lessons (you can do as much, or as little as you wish), not to mention the first-class food, fresh caught daily by guests and so well prepared. Fortunate to have on this cruise Natural Historian Author and "Abrolhogist" Dr Howard Gray, who brought to life the savage history of the 1629 wreck of the Dutch vessel Batavia and its aftermath, as well as describing the abundant bird, animal and sea-life. Add to that fellowship of an evening with great company of friends old and new from all over Australia, a story or two from Jay bringing to life his many years of living and working the islands and you have the consummate holiday added to by the annual Shore leave Festival Long Table Lunch do yourself a favour!

Stunning Abrolhos Cruise The crew were excellent in their knowledge and guidance through snorkelling tours and fishing excursions. and daily briefings on where the activities would occur and then where we were headed throughout the islands. Every day had multiple activities to choose from and you could be as busy or relaxed as you chose. The freshly caught lobsters and fish were cooked and served for lunch and dinner and were spectacular. I would highly recommend this cruise through this beautiful area. Definitely value for money.

Amazing Experience Such an amazing cruise .
Thank you Jay , your enthusiasm is infectious and is mirrored by your wonderful crew .
It was a highlight to be surrounded by such a happy crew , all wiling to help each other and the fantastic like minded travelling companions , all ready to experience whatever was on offer .
Pot pulling first up was on offer for anyone keen to join in,followed by breakfast , then fishing, snorkelling off small islands not far from our boat , or viewing from the glass bottom boat .
These activities were offered again after lunch in different locations .
My husband was elated to catch his first ever BIG fish , helped by Glenn & Kale , and it was big !
Conor our brilliant chef prepared the most delicious meals .
Lunch & dinner always included freshly caught & prepared crayfish & fish plus a non seafood dish & salads .
We chose this particular cruise as it was
The WA Wine & Seafood cruise .
It was wonderful .
James , from Leeuwin Estate , took us through a tasting of top class wines ,sharing his knowledge & generous tastings .
Sonia & crew set up one tasting on the top deck & the other on a beautiful small island not far from the boat .
The wines were paired with delicious seafood , very memorable tastings in such unique settings .
We loved everything.
Thank you

Cruise of a lifetime I have just completed yet another trip with the Eco Abrohlos team out of the friendly town of geraldton.
In 2018 I did the Houtman Abrohlos and 12 months later the Kimberly's
I met an amazing crew of fellow travellers on the kymberly trip and drove the GRR with a promise to do the Abrohlos islands together as a reunion.
This 3rd trip did not fail to provide us with an absolutely amazing holiday filled with fishing, beach walking, snorkelling and history telling.
Out of all the sites we visited only one was a return for me.
There is so much to do out there and the staff really knew their stuff
The history of shipwrecks and mutineers, the flora fauna and sealife is second to none and you snorkel with sea lions, fish and amazing corals .
I have done a lot in my life but this jampacked adventure wraps it all into one. I was sad to disembark and say my goodbye's to the amazing staff.
To be honest this is an absolute jewel to the Midwest, a wonderful attraction to the town of geraldton. We stayed on and visited the amazing museum where we purchased a few history books and enjoyed the town
If you can, just do it. You will not regret this

Extraordinary An Extraordinary 5 days. A wonderful group of Islands off Geraldton, WA. Enthusiastic Skipper Jay and a professional, helpful Crew, make this cruise unique.
Activities and Experiences are varied. Our guide on our February trip was a knowledgeable Historian & Nature Specialist Dr Howard Grey. The History of Coastal Wrecks and the Batavia Calamity are a background for present day Excursions & Explanations of various Natural Wonders. Australian Sealions, in the Ocean or pulled up on the coral beaches. Seabirds of many varieties, even in numbers at this time of the year.
We walked on cast up Coral beaches, fished and observed crew pulling Crayfish pots, blasting along in a powerful fishing boat.We went to a functioning Pearl Farm. Slowly motored over Fields of Brilliant Blue Staghorn Corals In a glass bottomed tender, with skilled young boat people always willing to help you safely in and out of the tender. Sunsets from the top deck. Exquisite.
Terrific Meals, often featuring Crayfish and recently caught fish. Interesting fellow travellers. What a place! Nature at its Brilliant Best. Recommended.

What a trip - forever memories of a stunning destination. Thankyou Eco Abrolhos Cruises One of the most wonderful trips I've ever done. What an experience to visit these remote Islands in such a special and unique way aboard Eco Abrolhos Expertly organised from start to finish, we loved our 5 day cruise, meeting our needs and beyond.
A fantastic crew on board who shared their passion of the destination, taking us snorkeling, fishing, craypot pulling, on guided walks with details of the incredible
eco system that makes up Abrolhos. Walking in the footsteps of the famous
Batavia shipwreck survivors was such a highlight, marginally topped by swimming with sea lions on our last morning! The Cruise boat is so well appointed, catering to a smallish group (our group was 18 total) . lovely, comfortable cabins, comfortable bed, hot shower, lots of added value. A wonderful chef who knows 100+ ways to service lobster! Not to mention his desserts!! Sunset drinks on the top deck, stories from Jay, the owner who has lived and breathed the area over 30 years - all while travelling with a fabulous group of people from all over Australia. Do yourself a favour and Get on Board!

An enriching history and physical experience Eco Abrolhos's small ship based out of Geraldton Western Australia picked us up from Wallaby Island dirt airstrip. A family business, the father Jay and son Bronson commenced our experience on day one with Abrolhos shoals' history, our choice of fishing/cray pot pulling, or coral snorkelling and shoal walking that proved to be a daily choice through to flying out again: A highlight being joined by a playful sea lion. In our fit mid 70s this was all doable. Aboard activities included fresh caught crayfish and fish for lunch and dinner prepared by an excellent and inventive chef. Mixing with amiable, knowledgable staff and fellow passengers throughout the days, while being regaled with tales made for a pleasurable, relaxed experience worth repeating sometime.

5 day Abrolhos Island cruise This was my second adventure with Eco Abrolhos, a customer focused family business dedicated to ensuring that everyone has a great time.
We saw lots of wild life with sea lions, dolphins, ospreys, various other bird species and the small Tammar wallaby. We went fishing, snorkelling, visited a pearl farm and ate oysters off the rocks.
The staff were friendly but professional and safety focused.
There was fresh seafood on the menu every day and dietary restrictions were catered for.

You won't be disappointed. I was promised a lot by my mate Davo who had done this the year before.
The issues for me were many, Vertigo, sea sickness, fussy eater etc lol
The cruise I selected flew us out so I was able to avoid the long boat ride which I knew would be hard for me. The Shine Airlines did a great job, we were on a 3 Dave plane, including the pilot 😉
I had some expected vertigo issues but Davo preempted this and suggested I take a cabin lowest and that did help.
I did not go fishing nor snorkeling due to me vestibular problems but that did not deter me at all from having the trip of a lifetime.
I walked the various islands, best of all Batavia's Graveyard which was my number one goal as I am very interested in that history.
Howard Gray did a great job of explaining the wildlife and the history of everything we saw.
Davo Brown also kept me reminded of what we were seeing.
The seals were great to see close up as we had drinks on a sandy island.
I was fascinated by the huts out there and my wife appreciated my visit to the Pearl Farm at Post Office Island.
There is so much more to say and it's all positive! Sunsets were wonderful to see.
The entire staff & crew did a sterling job, especially the ones operating the boats.
My only comment would be to think if you are very frail as I have dodgy everything and getting onto the fishing boat was a challenge at times. Mind you there was always a strong hand to make sure I did not fall.
Oh I mentioned I am a fussy eater, I only had to ask for a sandwich once, not being a crayfish fan (I was the only one not loving it) Plenty of breakfast lunch & dinner, never a worry. Finally I did learn that I am the spitting image of Frederick De Houtman 😉

Eco Abrolhos 5 day cruise We have just done the 5 night cruise around the Abrolhos Islands on the Eco Abrolhos. This was an amazing experience
with fishing, snorkelling, island walks and lots more. The 60ft crayfish boat went out every morning to pull the pots and
there was an abundance of crayfish pulled aboard every day. The fishing was also great, lots of snapper and dhufish.
The crew were fantastic and were so helpful and energetic. All the food that was caught was prepared by the chef
In so many different ways and was delicious. The stories and history of the islands was given by Jay and was really
informative and entertaining.
We snorkeled over the Batavia wreck and saw the anchors and the canons and loads of colourful fish. We did the
wine and food cruise and the tastings and food were sensational and done on an island with seals in the background.
Overall the whole trip was great and we had a fantastic time.

My wife and I did the Batavia & Shipwreck themed cruise in late February 2024. We both had a wonderful time, learning the history, visiting the actual locations, talking with the staff and guests. The food was fantastic and almost always included the fish and lobster caught on the day. A great opportunity to get tired of lobster if that is one of your ambitions. We snorkeled every day - superb clear blue waters, lots of different coral and an abundance of sea creatures - and my wife went on one of the fishing trips. There were many opportunities to go out and 'help' pull the lobster pots. Although we are not bird watchers, this is a great place to see birds as there is great variety on the different islands. The vessel, environment and itineraries were outstanding. The only thing better was the atmosphere created by Jay and his crew. Although of course safe, informative and action packed - the genuine passion and atmosphere of fun created by this exceptional team was a true joy to be a part of.

Abrolhos Trip 15 to 20 February 2024 Our trip was booked at a relatively late date - an impromptu decision by us. We usually procrastinate to the nth degree but this time decided to just get on with it and book.
Thank goodness we did - what a wonderful adventure we have had over the past week. The whole trip was one of discovery and meeting new people. The Eco Team were genuinely amazing - such a great crew, courteous, friendly, helpful and professional.
We had singled out Anna as your star employee as she demonstrated a maturity and awareness of our needs - not just individually but for everyone. She has a great sense for safety, especially when in the water and it is very reassuring knowing she is there for guidance and assistance if the need arises.
Of course the other guys deserve as many accolades - Connor - superb chef and a really nice guy (can’t beat us Poms!). Kaele, Shannon, Ruby Mae, Karmony, Paul and Scott and the other members I can’t quite recall the names of, all absolutely amazing. You both must be rightly proud of the team you have developed.
The trip was way beyond what we had expected and each day brought yet another adventure including another day of sumptuous meals. Our main highlight was the snorkelling on the Batavia - this had been a goal of ours for many years and to find ourselves floating above that ancient site was magical - such history.
I’m not sure how our passenger group compared to other trips but we felt everyone had a really good connection, which again made the trip very enjoyable.
James’s wine tastings were great fun and enjoyable and informative - a great way to highlight WA premium produce.
Feel free to post this to any site or utilise our comments if it would help.
Wishing you all the very best.
Kind regards

Unique and wonderful The Abrolhos Islands are a beautiful mosaic of low-lying coral and limestone islands surrounded by aquamarine sea and beautiful healthy reef systems. Their status as a national park means that tourism is limited to day trips unless one travels with a cruise operator such as Eco Abrolhos.
Owner Jay Cox was / is a lobster fisherman prior to this tourism venture and so he is in a unique position to interpret the islands for guests, he knows the best spots to visit and all the colourful local tales.
Each day aboard the Eco Abrolhos offers an opportunity to snorkel or to view coral from a glass bottom boat. There are also nature walks to observe birds, sea lions and Tammar Wallabies – as well as to learn about shipwrecks such as the Batavia. And for the fisher-folk there are also daily fishing trips.
Some specifics from our wonderful trip:
* The Eco Abrolhos does not claim to be a luxury cruise but it is quite comfortable for 5 nights. There are cabins for every budget and the boat does not travel at night, which ensures a calm rest. Our ensuite was compact but the shower was hot and everything functioned well.
* Chef Connor does a great job of catering to every dietary requirement as well as ensuring that the lobsters Jay pulls out of the ocean each morning are on the table that night – a big drawcard for some of us! (There are alternatives at every meal if you don’t eat lobster). Fishing activities ensure there fresh fish is also available. We especially appreciated the fruit salad each morning – but I don’t recall hearing anyone disappointed by any meal. Filtered water is available in the guest lounge so one can refill one’s water bottle.
* Beverages are not included in the trip’s cost, however, we found the range and markup on alcohol to be quite reasonable.
* Dress standards are casual – this would matter mostly to those flying out or back to join the cruise, as there is a limit on luggage allowance. There’s absolutely no need to dress up.
* Most cabins do not have individually controlled air conditioning and the boat temperature is quite cool. The one thing I wish I had known before the trip was that we would have been better bringing warm clothes – as we feel the cold. The team did provide extra blankets – so we were warm in bed. If you feel the cold, I’d recommend you ask for cabin 15 or 16 which do have individually controlled AC.
* The other thing that might be helpful is to know that on this relatively small ship, you will feel the ocean’s movement when you are not inside the shelter of the islands. Even if you have not previously experienced sea-sickness it may be worthwhile bringing seasickness tablets along.
* When visiting Post Office Island, guests have the opportunity to visit Jane Liddon’s pearl jewellery showroom. Jane is an amazing character and produces unique pieces specifically designed to be worn with casual clothing . We highly recommend paying the additional small fee to visit Jane’s showroom and to hear about the pearl production process. We found the cost of her jewellery compared to alternatives to be extremely good value.
* The crew of the Eco Abrolhos were wonderful: knowledgeable, helpful and tireless - ensuring we had a great time.
Overall this was a simply wonderful experience: we learned lots, the snorkelling was amazing and we enjoyed lobster each night!
The Eco Abrolhos is virtually the only way to experience the islands in this way – so we highly recommend it.

It was one of the best holidays I've been on. The Islands, snorkelling and fishing were great, the food tremendous and Island history fascinating. The ship's crew were terrific and always very helpful. Thoroughly recommend doing it. We will be doing the Kimberley trip at some stage. Many thanks to Eco Abrolhos from two very satisfied customers.

Hands down one of the best trips I’ve done. Ever. I can’t recommend this trip enough. I’ve done four small ship expeditions off the WA coast and this one was the best. The boat is the perfect size for the Abrolhos. Big enough to be stable and comfortable but small enough to get in and out of all the best places. So many activities every day and different options. Snorkel. Fish. Walk. Pull the cray pots. History tour. Take it easy and read a book. It’s up to you how much you lean in or out of the experience. What was an absolute standout was the skipper’s knowledge of the area - having lived and worked there his whole life - which have the whole trip an intimate insider perspective on the history and life on the islands. Brilliant crew who looked after us and made sure that we got the most out of every experience. Did I mention that I got to dive the 400 year old Batavia wreck?

Bucket List Experience This was a bucket list moment for us. Expectations were high and we were not disappointed. We snorkelled the Batavia site, pulled crayfish pots, caught fish and walked around a number of islands.
The staff were excellent and Jay had many a story to tell. The food was outstanding, I couldn’t see how this cruise could possibly be any better.

“Must Do” 5 Day Houtman Abrolhos Cruise Book this cruise. We spent 5 days floating about The Houtman Abrolhos enjoying good food, great snorkelling and good company. Jay and Sonia deliver a professional well organised arrival, departure and on board experience. Good food, crayfish ( 3 times a day, every day) freshly caught fish prepared oh so well by Ray the chef. The crew Tess, Lexi, Mahana, Chan, Amy, Jono, Liam, Scarlet (hope I haven’t forgotten anyone?) & skipper Jay are at all times friendly helpful and eager to share their knowledge of the wildlife above and below the water line. Jay’s local knowledge, stories and history of the area is second to none. Great coral and numerous fish at Coral Patches, a chance to snorkel the site of the Batavia shipwreck and numerous island walks (Island of the Angry Ghosts is a must Beacon Island) all of these things created a memorable truly unique experience. Worth every cent.
